BASF Safety Scouts: Celebrating 5 years of championing children’s on-farm safety

The BASF Safety Scouts program is designed to engage young children in the importance of farm safety. This fun and interactive program invites children to take on the roles of BASF Safety Scout or BASF Safety Captain and encourages them to act as safety ambassadors on their family farm.
BASF is proud to have distributed more than 10,000 BASF Safety Scout kits across Canada free of charge, and this year marks an exciting milestone — the program’s fifth anniversary!
Two thousand BASF Safety Scout kits will be available this season, free of charge, to farm families across Canada, while supplies last.
By engaging children in farm safety today, we can help shape a safer, brighter tomorrow for Canadian agriculture and those who participate in it.

BASF Safety Scouts program available for two age groups.
BASF Safety Scout
For children aged 3-6, the BASF Safety Scout title introduces farm safety. Through playful activities and initiation into the BASF Safety Scouts program, children are encouraged to learn and care about farm safety.
BASF Safety Captain
For children aged 7 and above, the BASF Safety Captain title continues to help shape farm safety while also including additional responsibilities like working with an adult to set up a “Safety Spot” on the family farm.
BASF Safety Scouts kits include:
- An adjustable child-sized safety vest (CSA 296-15 compliant)
- A BASF Safety Scout name pin
- Farm safety-themed booklet with interactive activities
- A BASF Safety Scouts sticker sheet
- An official BASF Safety Scouts membership certificate and pledge
Kids FarmSafe Week: May 12 - 18, 2026
The BASF Safety Scouts program is part of our long-standing partnership with the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA).
We are proud to be the presenting sponsor of Kids FarmSafe Week, an annual event hosted by CASA that is dedicated to helping farm families, farm workers and farming communities to #KeepKidsFarmSafe.
By raising awareness of health and safety concerns for children and youth on the farm and engaging kids early, we can help create a culture of safety today that they can carry into the future.
