CASA launches new national Kids FarmSafe Week, presented by BASF
Over the last 15 years, there has been an average of 70 fatalities on Canadian farms each year. With the vast majority of Canadian farms operated by farm families, the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) and BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions (BASF) recognize that even one on-farm death is too many. To promote safety on farms, BASF is proud to support CASA in launching the first annual Kids FarmSafe Week from May 13 to 19.

Growing Home with BASF 2024 winners announced
After a close race between the Growing Home with BASF finalists, the votes have been tallied and the winners have been selected. This year’s program received 624 nominations from growers, which were narrowed down to 12 finalists – three each in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

BASF announces its ten-year outlook on agricultural innovations that support food security for future generations, while minimizing the impact of farming on the climate and the environment. BASF Agricultural Solutions to launch Global Carbon Farming Program enabling farmers to reduce their CO2 emissions
With agriculture being responsible for about 20% of global CO2 emissions, carbon-efficient agricultural practices can significantly contribute to combat climate change. BASF will establish a program that allows farmers to track and profit from practices reducing CO2 emissions, underlining its efforts to contribute to fighting climate change. The Global Carbon Farming Program will support BASF Agricultural Solutions’ commitment to reduce the carbon footprint per ton of crop produced by 30% by 2030 in wheat, soy, rice, canola and corn. BASF will launch its program in phases starting in 2022.

In time for Giving Tuesday, BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions (BASF) is donating a combined $65,000 to farming communities across Western Canada. BASF’s Community Challenge called on InVigor® hybrid canola growers to nominate a local organization or initiative for the chance to receive one of eight $5,000 donations, with an additional $25,000 grand prize award in celebration of InVigor hybrid canola’s 25th anniversary season.

BASF receives registration for Veltyma Fungicide with new active ingredient Revysol
BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions has received registration from Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) for Veltyma™ Fungicide. Veltyma contains the unique active ingredient Revysol® which is the first and only Isopropanol-Azole, a unique chemistry discovered and developed by BASF, that provides broader, stronger, and longer control against various diseases on multiple crops. Veltyma will be available for purchase in the 2022 growing season.

BASF Canada launches Habitat Aqua herbicide, delivering effective solution for invasive weed control
BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions has launched its herbicide Habitat® Aqua (Habitat), registered for use by Health Canada, to combat invasive weeds that threaten natural habitats across Canada. Approved for application in and around aquatic sites, Habitat provides effective control over tough-to-manage invasive species such as phragmites, cordgrasses, flowering rush and knotweeds, which continue to be problematic for the native ecosystem and cause significant damage to the surrounding area.

Through the new program, participants will receive a free safety vest

builds on the online Kids’ Safety Hub, an online resource to help farm
families stay safe.
