BASF expands crop establishment portfolio with Nodulator IP Plus and Insure Cereal FX4 + Relenya for Canada growers

  • Nodulator IP Plus promotes stronger root system in soybeans to help withstand harsh Canadian seeding conditions
  • Combined, seed treatments Insure Cereal FX4 + Relenya help provide growers with protection against key seed- and soil-borne diseases, including control of Dwarf Bunt and boosted protection against Fusarium spp.

CALGARY, ALBERTA, September 22, 2022 – BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions (BASF) is expanding its portfolio in Canada to include two new crop establishment solutions – Nodulator® IP Plus and Insure® Cereal FX4 + Relenya®. By protecting seed from germination through to emergence, crop establishment products play a key role in delivering broad-spectrum protection against key seed- and soil-borne diseases and pests. The new additions will equip growers with greater disease protection on their soybean, cereal and pulse crops for the 2023 season.

“BASF is known for its commitment to innovation, and we’re always looking for ways to expand our portfolio to provide growers with solutions that support their agronomic needs,” said Chris Hewitt, Marketing Lead – Seed Treatments & Inoculants, BASF Canada. “Our crop establishment products are designed to give every seed, every advantage. As new pests and diseases continue to emerge on fields across Canada, seed treatments and inoculants play an increasing valuable role in helping to set crops up for success from the very beginning.”

New for soybean growers in 2023, BASF’s Nodulator IP Plus preinoculant system combines the proven performance of Bradyrhizobium japonicum strain 532C and dual strain biofungicide Velondis® Plus. Offering a Biostacked® Advantage, it delivers enhanced nodulation and early-season vigor, promoting a stronger root system designed to help withstand Canada’s harsh spring climate. In addition, the dual strain biofungicide complements existing disease management strategies by helping to suppress diseases like Fusarium, Rhizoctonia and Pythium that can impact soybean crop establishment.

“The introduction of Nodulator IP Plus marks a notable addition and evolution to our portfolio for soybean growers across Canada,” said Nikki Vercaigne, Technical Marketing Specialist – Seed Treatments, BASF Canada. “Growers across Canada have come to trust and value BASF’s Nodulator® PRO preinoculant for its performance in nodulation and nitrogen fixation. Nodulator IP Plus evolves this foundation with the addition of a dual strain biofungicide that when Biostacked with leading Bradyrhizobium japonicum strain 532C offers growers a stronger start to crop establishment, enabling yield potential performance of their soybean genetics.”

“We’re also really excited to share that along with the launch of the new Nodulator IP Plus preinoculant system, we’re introducing a new, exclusive-to-BASF patented bladder system,” continues Vercaigne. “This new bladder design advances the stabilization of rhizobia,  and supporting vitality and performance in the field – an added key benefit for growers helping them get the most out of their soybeans.”

Insure Cereal FX4 + Relenya cereal seed treatment also marks a new addition to BASF’s crop establishment portfolio and will be available for use in 2023 in Canada. It incorporates four modes of action from Insure Cereal FX4 and the power of Revysol Fungicide in a seed treatment formulation. This seed treatment combination offers key seed- and soil-borne disease control, resulting in maximum yield potential and quality on wheat crops. Insure Cereal FX4 + Relenya joins Teraxxa® F4, which delivers true control against wireworms, rounding out BASF’s cereal seed treatment portfolio to help strengthen agronomic performance for Canadian cereal growers.

“The combined seed treatment helps provide growers with exceptional seed- and soil-borne disease protection, including control of Dwarf Bunt and boosted protection against Fusarium,” added Vercaigne. "Growers have one of the biggest jobs on earth, so it’s our job to help set them up for success by developing solutions that help tackle the biggest challenges in their fields. We are excited to bring these new crop establishment solutions to growers and look forward to continuing to deliver innovative new products in the years to come.”

Nodulator IP Plus and Insure Cereal FX4 + Relenya will be available to Eastern Canadian growers for the 2023 season. For more information, please visit www.agsolutions.ca.
