Zidua Prime, a new herbicide from BASF, is coming to Eastern Canadian soybean growers in 2027

  • Developed to address the toughest weed challenges in Ontario and Quebec soybean production
  • Delivers multiple effective modes of action, dependable residual performance and flexibility across all soybean platforms

CALGARY, ALBERTA, September 14, 2026 – BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada (BASF) has announced that Zidua® Prime herbicide, a new solution for residual weed control designed to help Eastern Canadian soybean growers tackle their toughest weed challenges, will be available for the 2027 growing season.

Zidua Prime combines two proven active ingredients, imazethapyr (Group 2) and pyroxasulfone (Group 15), to deliver multiple effective modes of action and complementary control of grasses and broadleaf weeds across all soybean platforms. It also provides dependable performance across a range of moisture conditions, helping deliver consistent results throughout the season.

“Soybean growers work hard to achieve a clean field but weed escapes can create unexpected rework later in the season,” said Chris Vander Kant, Corn, Soybeans & Horticulture Crop Manager, BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada. “As weed pressures evolve, growers need solutions that fit their operation. We are excited to bring Zidua Prime to Eastern Canada, helping growers manage weeds with confidence.”

Made for Eastern Canadian soybean growing conditions

Developed specifically for Eastern Canadian soybean production, Zidua Prime addresses the different weed pressures growers face across Ontario and Quebec, including Waterhemp, Eastern black nightshade, Foxtails, Pigweeds, Lamb’s quarters and Ragweed.

“In trials across Ontario and Quebec, Zidua Prime delivered strong residual performance across a variety of growing conditions,” said Rob Miller, Regional Technical Services Manager, Eastern Canada. “With broad tank-mix compatibility and both pre- and post-emergence flexibility, growers can customize weed management programs to meet the unique needs of their operations.”

Now registered by the Health Canada Pesticides Regulatory Directorate (PRD), Zidua Prime helps soybean growers maintain cleaner fields throughout the season. Grower can learn more about Zidua Prime by visiting BASF at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show (booth #144) in Woodstock, Ontario from September 15-17, 2026. Growers can also contact their local BASF representative or retail representative or visit agsolutions.ca/ziduaprime for more information.
