BASF launches Maxtima fungicide for golf courses in Canada

Calgary, AB, November 18, 2019 – BASF introduces Maxtima® fungicide featuring the new Revysol® fungicide active ingredient (AI) which is now registered in Canada*.

“With Maxtima fungicide, golf course superintendents have a crucial puzzle piece for their rotational programs that can offer turf safety and broad-spectrum activity, even on demethylation inhibitors (DMI) insensitive pathogens,” said Brad Hayhoe, Professional & Specialty Solutions Market Manager, BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada.

Maxtima fungicide has outstanding rainfastness and helps provide effective and longer-lasting control of turfgrass diseases such as dollar spot, anthracnose, summer patch and fairy ring, among other diseases. With a unique mode of action, Maxtima fungicide delivers superior activity regardless of temperature at application, at various points throughout the season long.

Dr. Jim Kerns, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist of Turfgrass Pathology, NC State University has been working with the new product for over five years applying it to research trials throughout North Carolina. “We applied Maxtima fungicide to creeping bentgrass and ultra-dwarf bermudagrass greens during periods of the year where other DMIs are usually phytotoxic, but we had not observed phyto damage,” Kerns said.

Maxtima fungicide features Revysol fungicide AI, which is unlike products currently registered for sale in the market due to its biological performance against several economically significant diseases. Unlike other DMIs in the market, Maxtima fungicide is the first isopropanol-azoles, a chemistry that helps ensure excellent binding capacity and adaptability through its molecule flexibility. This offers control even on plant pathogen strains that are insensitive to DMIs.

Superintendents can learn more about Maxtima fungicide by contacting their local BASF representative.
